3D Entrepreneur Reaches Out to Young Victims of 9-11

Bartlett , Tenn. , April 15, 2002: American Paper Optics announces a donation of funds resulting from sales of “American Eyes,” a product launched in the wake of the catastrophic events of Sept. 11 th. John Jerit, creator of the patriotic paper 3D eyeglasses, developed the line in October 2001 to help families of the terrorist attacks.

A donation of 3,144 dollars will benefit The Todd M. Beamer Foundation, a nonprofit organization developed to help meet the long-term needs of the children who lost parents in the events of Sept. 11, 2001. The funds will also “assist future victims of terrorism, and to continue Todd’s passion for mentoring and equipping youth to make the same heroic choices he made throughout his life,” said Lisa Beamer, founder of the organization and wife of the late Todd Beamer.

Beamer, one of the “freedom fighters” who helped thwart terrorists on the fated Flight 93, is known for the immortal words, “Are you ready? Let’s roll!” He is a shining example of how tragedy is turned to triumph, say organization supporters. “The fund serves as a memorial to Todd and to remind us all that when people of character come together, good can overcome evil.” If you would like more information about the Todd M. Beamer Foundation and its mission, or if you wish to make a special memorial donation, visit www.beamerfoundation.org.

“American Eyes” glasses create the letters “ USA” on any bright point of light and are activated while viewing city lights, fireworks, streetlights, or holiday lights—especially at night.

Owner, John Jerit said, “American Paper Optics has taken great pride in the development of this product as a tribute to our nation’s renewed patriotic spirit. We are excited about the potential of ‘American Eyes’ and the opportunity to take part in helping our nation recover.” Additional proceeds from the sale of American Eyes will continue to benefit organizations funding September 11 th causes through Labor Day of this year.

“American Eyes” are available in two full-color commemorative designs—American Eagle and American Symbols style frames. American Paper Optics has targeted a diverse direct and retail market for “American Eyes” that include online sales, souvenir, novelty, greeting card, and gift shops.
