Plastic 3D Glasses

Once an actual question on the classic board game Trivial Pursuit “What does American Paper Optics do? The Answer: Makes paper 3D glasses!”.  Well, times have changed and we now also offer a wide selection of plastic 3D glasses in almost all of our top selling optical effects.

Just like in the grocery store – “Paper or Plastic?”, we offer our durable plastic glasses in several frame styles used for special venues, theme park attractions, theatrical presentations, digital theaters and 3D TVs, EDM/Rave events, stereo pairs, websites, and print viewing.  We stock plain black frames in both a wayfarer and wraparound style so we can basically put any lens into one of these 2 frames.  Want to add even greater value?  We can even imprint the temples for greater advertising value.

Some of our most popular plastic style glasses are our washable theme park style (non-folding) glasses made of durable black flexible frames that we keep in stock in both circular and linear (45º/135º) lens orientations.  These multi-use glasses will hold up to numerous washing in commercial dishwashers.  We also sell single use theatrical folding style glasses for single use in the linear and circular format.  Our folding style glasses are great for imprinting logos on the temples.

Our plastic anaglyph glasses with our proprietary red/cyan filters are available in both super modern “Gen X”, Oakley style, frame or in a classic wayfarer frame. These imprintable glasses with tough acrylic lenses are the best choice in the industry for viewing anaglyph images in print and on the web.

We also manufacture our ChromaDepth® glasses in a black theme park style as well as our super cool ChromaPro 3D frame.  These glasses are ideal for multiple uses on dark rides, blacklight effects, and haunted attractions.

Lastly, we have a full line of our retail glasses with our patented HoloSpex and diffraction lenses.  Perfect for stocking stuffers, Valentine’s Day, and EDM/Rave events, you can order these ready to go at Holidayspecs.com.

3D Glasses, Then and Now

Previously, all 3D glasses had colored lenses. You might remember going to the movies and getting a paper pair of 3D glasses where one side was red and the other was blue. Now, there are different kinds of 3D glasses — not need to have the red and blue lenses. In fact, modern 3D glasses often look more like a pair of lightly tinted sunglasses.

How Do Plastic 3D Glasses Work?

Both the lenses of the 3D glasses and the images on the screen are polarized. This restricts the amount of light that is able to enter your eyes.

On screen, there are actually two separate images close to each other. Each eye sees one of the images through lenses with similar polarization to those that are on the screen. This causes the brain to merge the images that you’re seeing through each eye into one 3D image.

No matter what type of 3D glasses you use, deceiving the brain to see 3D content is the end goal. But it’s so much fun, we think your brain will forgive you for the deception. Contact us today to learn what’s possible with 3D glasses from American Paper Optics!

Call us with a special project or a unique lens orientation or color and we will make your experience a lot more fun than going to the eye doctor.
