Preparing for the 2024 Solar Eclipse in The Forks ME

According to NASA, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, then Mexico, the US and Canada in April 2024. During a total eclipse, the moon will completely block the sun, darkening the sky. To be safe, don’t forget to wear special eclipse glasses.

The Forks ME Eclipse 2024

An eclipse has different stages: partial eclipse, shadow bands, Baily’s beads, diamond ring and totality. Never remove your eclipse glasses until the moon completely covers the sun. The partial eclipse in Forks will likely last between 70 to 80 minutes. Always wear your glasses when watching the sun during this phase. Before and after totality, you may see shadow bands on the ground or the sides of the buildings. They’re dark, separated by white spaces and they move fast. As the moon continues to move, light rays will shine on its edges. These are called Baily’s Beads and unfortunately, you may barely notice them because they’re short-lived. They will start disappearing until only one single light remains which will resemble a diamond ring. You must keep wearing your eclipse glasses until there’s no direct sunlight left. Then you can safely remove them to watch the total eclipse.
