Bartlett , Tenn. , October 4, 2001: American Paper Optics introduces “American Eyes,” patriotic paper eyeglasses with a portion of the proceeds from the product to benefit the families of the Sept. 11 th tragedies. “American Eyes” glasses create the letters “ USA” on any bright point of light and are activated while viewing city lights, fireworks, streetlights, or holiday lights—especially at night.

John Jerit, owner of American Paper Optics said, “My staff and I have taken great pride in the development of this product and believe it is a tribute to our nation’s renewed patriotic spirit. We are excited about the potential of “American Eyes” and the opportunity to take part in helping our nation recover.”

American Eyes are available in two commemorative designs, which are the American Icons and Patriotic Flag style frames. American Paper Optics has targeted a diverse direct and retail market for American Eyes that include online sales, souvenir, novelty, greeting card, and gift shops.

In 1995, American Paper Optics introduced a retail phenomenon into the mainstream marketplace with Holiday Specs and Happy Eyes Glasses. These unique paper eyeglasses allow the wearer to see special messages and graphics surrounding bright points of light. The line has sold over three million glasses through direct and retail sales.
